School Construction Update

July 2022 – Choosing the Right Architectural Firm for the Job

At the beginning of the summer, dozens of architects attended a pre-bid conference at Model to explore the site, learn about the history of the current building, and discuss Model’s goals to be a true model for innovative educational design and school safety. The firm will be selected by the end of summer 2022 to begin the design process.

October 2022 – Listening to Your Input

As the next school year begins, Model will be hosting listening sessions with community members, including current students, parents/families, alumni, retired Model teachers, and more to hear what features you want to see in the new facility. Be sure to follow Model’s website and social media @EKUModel for the dates and times to attend!

For a full construction timeline, check out the feature available in the Spring 2022 edition of Insights!

Volunteer Training

If you're interested in participating as a volunteer in your child's classroom or at any point during the school year for in-school activities and/or in-state field trips, you are required to complete the Volunteer Training.

Training must be completed annually. Additional training is required for out-of-state and overnight field trips. At the end of the training, you will be prompted to complete a quiz; you must pass the quiz with at least an 80%.
