Recognized for Closing the Gender Gap in AP Computer Science Principles

Model Laboratory School continues our tradition of academic excellence by earning the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award. This award celebrates our high female representation in the AP Computer Science Principles course. Model was one of the 832 schools nationally recognized, which proves why we here at Model believe in our world-class education.

“Computer science is the source code of our economy and so much of our daily lives,” said Trevor Packer, College Board Head of the AP Program. “In the five years since we began the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award, it’s been heartening to see schools like Model welcome so many more young women into this vital field.”

Providing female students with accessible computer science courses is critical to ensuring gender parity in the industry’s high-paying jobs and driving innovation, creativity, and representation. We are proud to be a model for other schools across the nation, and we look forward to seeing our young female scholars and others achieve success in computer science careers and beyond.
