Earlier this week, Model Laboratory School and Eastern Kentucky University were honored to welcome a delegation team from Hokuto City, Japan!
Student ambassadors at Model greeted the team (led by Hokuto City Mayor Eiji Kamimura and Koryo High School Principal Nobuyuki Suzuki) and provided a tour and short history of Model Laboratory School. Afterward, the delegation toured the Campus Beautiful at EKU, were welcomed by EKU President David McFaddin, and formalized the agreement between the two schools.
In the exchange program set to take place next school year, student representatives from Model as well as students from Koryo High School in Hokuto City, Japan will have the opportunity to to travel to each respective area to spend time in a homestay family, experience the education system, and participate in learning more about each other’s culture!
This visit continues a tradition of cultural exchange between the two regions that dates back to 1988; we can’t wait to continue the tradition of collaboration and exchange!
