We were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to showcase our talented young artists at a downtown Richmond business, Thrivent, throughout April 😍 Huge thanks to Rachel Hooker at Thrivent Financial for inviting Model to collaborate on featuring K-12 student artists in an art show at their office. As we close out the month of April, we have stayed busy experiencing new things in and out of the classroom while showcasing our learning. 🌟💡 👨‍🏫📃 The Seniors wrapped up their Senior Research Project and Capstone presentations, marking another milestone on their journey toward earning their diplomas. Completing this endeavor is significant, considering the year-long dedication to research, product development, and data collection. 📊📓 Thank you to all the families who came to the Secondary Academic Showcase! Students presented and displayed projects they completed this school year from science experiments to Senior pop-up shops to historical museums. 📐🔢 One of those projects came from Algebra students who created and designed catapults using their mathematical thinking and quantitative reasoning. 🏕🛶 Grade 4 students attended their annual trip to 4-H Camp. Students experienced fun outdoor activities with wildlife, canoeing, and, of course, s'mores! 🇺🇸⚖️ Grade 5 also attended their annual trip to Washington D.C. to learn about American history and government first-hand.

57 seniors, 17 different colleges and universities across the country, and one big day of celebration! 🥳 The Class of 2024 had an exciting College Commitment Day today, and we could not be more proud of them for wanting to take their talents into higher education. Did you know April 24 is Kentucky Writers' Day? Our grade 3 students learned all about #KyWriters today, including current Poet Laureate Silas House, George Ella Lyon, and Robert Penn Warren, among others. Ms. Emanuel's and Ms. Kinsman's classes hosted Eastern Kentucky University English professor Jacqueline Hamilton as a way to educate the students about the impact of Kentucky writers and to develop them as writers, too. In fact, Professor Hamilton will return before the end of the school year to work with students on writing a future book titled "M is for Model." ❤️📖📝

We were thrilled to see many Model families at last night's Elementary Academic Showcase! A big thank you to all who joined us to celebrate our young scholars. We're still buzzing with excitement after hosting Kentucky Department of Education officials and Commissioner Robin Kinney yesterday! 🤩 Our students showcased their academic talents through projects and presentations so our KDE guests could understand what a world-class education means. They had the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the innovative approaches we're implementing to support student success and achieve academic excellence. We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to share our vision for education with Commissioner Kinney and KDE and to highlight the incredible work happening within our school community. 🎨🛍️✨ What a spectacular day of creativity and entrepreneurship yesterday! 💼💰 Our 2nd graders turned into young entrepreneurs in the past few weeks as they discovered business planning and production. From brainstorming ideas to crafting their goods or services, they invested in their projects every step of the way all to culminate into the "Model Market"! The classrooms transformed into a bustling marketplace, with each 2nd grader proudly showcasing their products at their very own storefronts. It was a joy to see their excitement as they interacted with customers, honed their sales skills, and experienced the rewards of their hard work. Bravo, young business moguls! 🎨🖌️ Meanwhile, in our early childhood program, budding Picassos and Van Goghs dazzled us all with their artistic talents at the art show! Each and every student had multiple masterpieces on display, transforming Burrier's halls into a vibrant gallery of colors and creativity. We loved seeing all of the smiling families as they strolled through the exhibits, marveling at the imagination and skill of our youngest artists. Through hands-on experiences and artistic exploration, our world-class education fosters creativity and innovation in every child of all ages 🖍🎓✏️

🎉 What an AMAZING week at Model High! 🎩 We went back to the roaring 20s for Gatsby Day 🎩 | 🌍 We traveled the globe at our International Day fair 🌍 | 🏆 Four Seniors placed third in the Kentucky Personal Finance Challenge State Finals 🏆 | ⚾️ And, let's hear it for Model Patriot Baseball Team, who are now on a 10-game winning streak after defeating Lincoln County earlier this week! ⚾️

🌍✨ Join Us for an International Day celebration! ✨🌍 Get ready to embark on a journey around the world as we celebrate International Day on Friday, April 5! Model families and students will be the hosts of the many different exhibits to showcase their culture to other Model students. Students will visit the event throughout the day in the gym to learn about the diverse cultures and traditions represented here at Model Lab. Thank you to the Diversity Awareness Club for planning and hosting this event! 👏

Our Elementary Family STEM Night blasted off with cosmic adventures to complete their missions, while our 7th-grade poets took us on a journey through the hauntingly beautiful world of Edgar Allan Poe! Thank you to all the families and community members who attended and supported STEM Night and the "Poe"try Slam, and bravo to our talented young wordsmiths and artists!

Plus, indulge in delicious treats from KONA Ice, the Donut Trailer, and Piggin’ Out food trucks—dinner plans sorted! The food trucks will be located by the gym from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

"I know how you'll pass," Mrs. Hardin uttered walking through the classroom door— "With this 'Poe'try Slam and nothing more." Everyone is welcome to join us Thursday evening, 5:30-7:30 p.m., as our seventh-graders present original poetry and art!
