Homestay Families Needed for Model-Japan Student Exchange: Koryo High School, located in Hokuto City, Japan, will be sending 16 high school boys/girls to Model March 20-26, 2024. We need host families to welcome these students for one week. If you are interested in hosting a student, please contact Lynnette Noblitt at lynnette.noblitt@eku.edu for more details.

There will be no school tomorrow, Wednesday, January 3, for Model Laboratory Schools due to no heat throughout the building. Burrier Child Development Center will continue as scheduled. | Over the break, pipes burst from the cold temperatures, resulting in most of the school not having heat. EKU facilities have been working on the issues since last week, and outside contractors made progress today; however, there will still not be heat throughout the building at least tomorrow. Therefore, there will be no school for Kindergarten through 12th Grade Wednesday, January 3. Any updates to athletic events will come from coaches or be posted on social media and website.

This week, Model Laboratory had Professional Writer Kelly Jean Fitzsimmons lead a 3-Day college essay writing workshop for Seniors and Juniors in AP English. ✏️🗒 As students in grades 11 and 12 are planning their next steps after Model High, they are learning how to tell their stories through college applications and essays. To assist them with this, they all participated in the 3-day writing workshop with writer, educator, and storyteller Kelly Jean Fitzsimmons. As a former AP Program Information writer for the College Board, Kelly Jean now leads college essay writing workshops across the country with the purpose of teaching students how to extend their story in the reader's mind through a college essay.
