It has been exactly a week since we celebrated the newest class of Model alumni: the Class of 2024, and we are still celebrating! From Kindergarteners to Seniors, it has been a heartwarming and nostalgic close to the school year ❤🎉 Last night, our Kindergarteners dazzled us with their end-of-year program, "Kiss Your Brain." From creative performances to bright smiles, it was a night to remember! 💡✨🧠 This morning, our Seniors had their triumphant Senior Walk, striding through our K-12 halls while receiving cheers and high-fives from students of all ages. It's a beautiful tradition that symbolizes the journey from Kindergarten to graduation—a one-of-a-kind experience here at Model Lab. 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓

🥳 Our Elementary students had an amazing couple of days filled with joy and excitement! On Friday, we celebrated Grandparents' and Grand-Friends' Day; seeing our students spending quality time with their grandparents and making memories at school together was heartwarming. ❤ Yesterday, the fun continued with Field Day! 🎉 The kids had a blast bouncing around on inflatables, playing games, and enjoying delicious ice cream treats from Poppy's Ice Cream Truck 🍦. It was a fun and relaxing way to close out the school year! 😊

🎉 The end of last week was filled with unforgettable moments for Model High as we celebrated our students. ✨ Senior Recognition Banquet ✨ We honored the Class of 2024 for their perseverance, dedication, and achievements. It was a memorable evening filled with awards and pride in how far our students have come. ❤ We are also thrilled to announce that one of our seniors, Maddy, graduated early to join the United States Air Force. She begins her training this week, and we couldn't be prouder of her commitment and service to our country! 🏅 Secondary Awards Ceremony 🏅 Students in grades 7-11 were recognized for their exceptional achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. Congratulations to all award recipients! 🌙🎶 Prom Night 🎶🌙 The week culminated in a magical prom night, "Fly Me to the Moon," where our students danced the night away under the stars.

🎥👩‍🏫🤩 Congratulations to Ms. Jessica Holmes and Mrs. Angela Hardin for being featured in the Kentucky Department of Education Interdisciplinary Literacy Practices video series! Back in December, Ms. Holmes, Mrs. Hardin, and their classes were filmed and interviewed, and, now, we're excited to share the video series has officially launched to aid future teachers. We were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to showcase our talented young artists at a downtown Richmond business, Thrivent, throughout April 😍 Huge thanks to Rachel Hooker at Thrivent Financial for inviting Model to collaborate on featuring K-12 student artists in an art show at their office. As we close out the month of April, we have stayed busy experiencing new things in and out of the classroom while showcasing our learning. 🌟💡 👨‍🏫📃 The Seniors wrapped up their Senior Research Project and Capstone presentations, marking another milestone on their journey toward earning their diplomas. Completing this endeavor is significant, considering the year-long dedication to research, product development, and data collection. 📊📓 Thank you to all the families who came to the Secondary Academic Showcase! Students presented and displayed projects they completed this school year from science experiments to Senior pop-up shops to historical museums. 📐🔢 One of those projects came from Algebra students who created and designed catapults using their mathematical thinking and quantitative reasoning. 🏕🛶 Grade 4 students attended their annual trip to 4-H Camp. Students experienced fun outdoor activities with wildlife, canoeing, and, of course, s'mores! 🇺🇸⚖️ Grade 5 also attended their annual trip to Washington D.C. to learn about American history and government first-hand.

57 seniors, 17 different colleges and universities across the country, and one big day of celebration! 🥳 The Class of 2024 had an exciting College Commitment Day today, and we could not be more proud of them for wanting to take their talents into higher education. Did you know April 24 is Kentucky Writers' Day? Our grade 3 students learned all about #KyWriters today, including current Poet Laureate Silas House, George Ella Lyon, and Robert Penn Warren, among others. Ms. Emanuel's and Ms. Kinsman's classes hosted Eastern Kentucky University English professor Jacqueline Hamilton as a way to educate the students about the impact of Kentucky writers and to develop them as writers, too. In fact, Professor Hamilton will return before the end of the school year to work with students on writing a future book titled "M is for Model." ❤️📖📝
